Justina Mamani Jiménez

At 72 years old, she has dedicated much of her life to informal work as a street food vendor, an activity that allowed her to support her family despite not having had access to formal education, as she cannot read or write. Today she faces a new difficulty: a cataract that has progressively deteriorated her vision, causing frequent trips and limiting her ability to move safely and function independently.

In addition to her visual impairment, Justina lives with diabetes, a condition that requires permanent medical check-ups in the public health system due to her limited financial resources. Although she has the support of her husband and children, she spends most of her days at home, seeing her autonomy and participation in activities that were once part of her daily life reduced.
