A HIGH-IMPACT PROGRAM

In Bolivia, a large portion of Bolivians lack access to quality healthcare services, with 68% of the population living in scattered rural communities with very few public health services and 34.6% in extreme poverty. Many of them are losing their sight and, with it, the ability to work to provide for their families. Therefore, Fundación Kantutani carries out the following projects of GREAT SOCIO-ECONOMIC IMPACT with immediate and/or short-term results that provide a permanent benefit for the individual, their family, and the community:
Project

BUS OF HOPE

It is a flagship initiative of the Vision Program and constitutes the country’s first mobile ophthalmic operating room. Its main objective is to bring specialized care directly to rural communities and highly vulnerable municipalities, where there are no ophthalmology centers or sufficient resources to treat visual conditions that, if not addressed in a timely manner, lead to progressive vision loss and a deterioration in quality of life.

Aimed at improving the quality of life for older adults, especially in provinces and communities with limited access to visual care services, who face a progressive decline in their visual capacity due to aging and lack of timely care.

Focused on protecting and strengthening children’s visual health, based on the conviction that early vision screening is key to detecting vision problems in a timely manner and preventing irreversible damage that may affect the development, learning, and quality of life of girls and boys.

Aimed at improving the quality of life and promoting the autonomy of people with disabilities, between 6 and 54 years of age, who are in vulnerable situations and have limited access to specialized vision care services.
