PEOPLE WITH DISABILITIES
Aimed at improving the quality of life and promoting the autonomy of people with disabilities, between 6 and 54 years of age, who are in vulnerable situations and have limited access to specialized vision care services.
The program emerges as a response to the limited vision care attention this population faces, primarily due to the lack of specialists, resources, and timely services for the prevention, treatment, and management of visual pathologies, as well as emergency situations that may affect their well-being and comprehensive development.
Under a primary prevention and comprehensive care approach, the program provides specialized ophthalmological consultations, complete visual evaluations, referrals to specialists, and the free provision of single-vision lenses and other visual aids, according to each patient’s needs, always prioritizing people with limited economic resources.
Through this support, the Project – People with Disabilities seeks to break down barriers that limit social, educational, and employment inclusion, contributing to enabling beneficiaries to function with greater autonomy, dignity, and equal opportunities within their family and community environment.
This initiative is part of the Vision Program, the Foundation’s most far-reaching and impactful pillar, and is implemented through ongoing and periodic campaigns that allow for expanded coverage and generate real and sustainable impact in the communities that need it most.
