Project

CHILDREN

Focused on protecting and strengthening children’s visual health, based on the conviction that early vision screening is key to detecting vision problems in a timely manner and preventing irreversible damage that may affect the development, learning, and quality of life of girls and boys.

The project places special emphasis on prevention and early detection of visual impairments at school age, prioritizing girls and boys in vulnerable situations. Through timely vision screenings and the free provision of custom-made, personalized eyeglasses, the aim is to ensure that beneficiaries receive the necessary care before visual conditions worsen or become a barrier to their education and overall development.

As part of its intervention model, the program incorporates a community and educational component. Prior to specialized evaluations, teachers and parents are trained to measure visual acuity, enabling an initial survey and screening through visual-acuity card issuance. This process facilitates the early identification of girls and boys with possible visual impairments and strengthens awareness of the importance of caring for visual health from an early age.

The Children’s Project is part of the Vision Program and is carried out through ongoing and periodic campaigns, helping to create better conditions for learning, inclusion, and well-being for Bolivian children, especially in communities with limited access to specialized services.
