Project

BUS OF HOPE

It is a flagship initiative of the Vision Program and constitutes the country’s first mobile ophthalmic operating room. Its main objective is to bring specialized care directly to rural communities and highly vulnerable municipalities, where there are no ophthalmology centers or sufficient resources to treat visual conditions that, if not addressed in a timely manner, lead to progressive vision loss and a deterioration in quality of life.

The project emerged in response to the geographic, economic, and cultural barriers that prevent many people from accessing medical services outside their region. In these contexts, the lack of care causes many people to lose their sight, have their autonomy limited, and become bedridden, affecting their personal, family, and community well-being.

Under the principle of bringing care closer to those who need it most, the Bus of Hope provides a mobile operating room equipped with appropriate technology and a team of specialized professionals, making it possible to carry out evaluations, provide custom-made personalized lenses, and perform cataract surgeries directly in the beneficiary municipalities and communities.

The Bus of Hope Project reflects the Kantutani Foundation’s commitment to a supportive, innovative, high-impact intervention model that breaks down access barriers and transforms realities, bringing concrete solutions to places where they did not previously exist.
